What is Nature Play?

There is an increasing body of evidence suggesting children benefit from being in nature, particularly in unstructured natural environments. This type of play promotes all areas of their development.

Nature Play (or Nature Pedagogy) can be defined as a holistic approach to a child’s education where nature is the teacher, where children are exposed to the natural world regularly, learning to respect and relate to the natural environment.

It can be experienced through a range of programs such as Forest Schools, Bush Kinder and Nature Playgroups under the guidance of a qualified and experienced Leader.

Nature Play Sessions for Families

Guided playgroup for children aged 2 to 5 years with their parent or carer.

Homeschool Nature Immersion program for children aged 5 to 12 years with their parent or carer.

School holiday sessions cater for both groups of children in a multi-aged family session.

Bush Kinder for Early Childhood Services

One-off Nature Play excursions or regular Bush Kinder for Early Childhood services.

We are grateful to play and learn on Wadawurrung Country and acknowledge the Wadawurrung people as the Traditional Owners of this land.

We are committed to learning about and honouring First Nations culture in all our programs.
